El artista que presentamos hoy se llama Marcelo Camelo y acaba de editar su segundo disco solista, Toque Dela. Camelo forma parte de la banda Los Hermanos que se hizo muy conocida en nuestro país en la segunda mitad de los noventa con su hit Ana Julia.

Hace unos años que Los Hermanos se encuentran en un estado de intermitencia y mientras tanto sus dos integrantes se lanzan a distintos proyectos paralelos.

Toque Dela es el segundo intento solista de Camelo, acá abajo pueden escuchar un adelanto de uno de sus temas y más abajo un registro del recital que grabó para MTV el año pasado, en esta ocasión acompañado por su novia, la jovensisima, Mallu Magalhaes.

As one of our Creators, Marcelo Camelo has a close relationship with technology. He's had several forays into multimedia web projects, like his YouTube Orchestra, and he's even made experimental art with a scanner. As Camelo's work demonstrates, the greatest beauty of a technological gizmo can come from getting hacked and reversed by users' creative hands.

But Marcelo's true genius was established off the internet. His second solo album, Toque Dela, which was released this week, reaffirms his traditional musical talents. Featuring instrumental lines from Hurtmold, this record has a harsher sound than Sou, its predecessor. When he released Toque Dela, Marcelo took the opportunity to declare his stance on the copyright debate that goes on, saying that he considers it unfair to "download music for free."

Even though Marcelo Camelo is entering a new phase of his career, as similar artists like Gilberto Gil have done before him, this new album shows us the original Marcelo we know and love. After some interesting experiments with the internet and YouTube, Toque Dela's lyricism reaffirms that Camelo is incredibly talented with guitars and orchestrations. We'd love to see more projects featuring his conventional artistry in the future.
