Magos Herrera de profunda y cautivadora presencia escenica, es considerada como una de las voces mas bellas de la escena contemporánea y una de las artistas mas activas en el género de Jazz de Latinoamerica.

Reconocida popularmente en Mexico y Latinoamerica, la compositora e interprete mexicana, de elocuente improvisacion vocal, es conocida por su elegante forma de mezclar Jazz con melodias y ritmos lationoamericanos.Fluida en español, portugues e ingles, su repertorio esta lleno de romance, intimidad y encanto.

Su carrera comenzo en Italia en 1988 cuando decide involucrarse profesionalmente en la musica para graduarse del "Musicians Institute" en Los Angeles. Por 12 años Magos se ha presentado en festivales internacionales y foros como Lincoln Center en Nueva York, Kennedy Center en Washington, Montreal International Jazz Festival, Canadá, Millenium Park en Chicago, Teatro de la Ciudad y Lunario en Ciudad de Mexico, Sala Galileo Galilei en Madrid y Festival Internacional de Barcelona, entre muchos otros.

imageMagos Herrera ha grabado 6 producciónes discográficas incluyendo "Cajuina", "Orquideas Susurrantes, " "Pais Maravilla", "Todo Puede Inspirar", " Soliluna" y "Distancia" y 2 compilaciones internacionales en Brazil y Japón, y formo parte de las aclamadas series discográficas "Mexican Divas". Ha sido nominada para las "Lunas del Auditorio nacional en México en 2006 y 2009 como mejor espectáculo de Jazz y ha sido incluida dentro de los "1000 discos que tienes que escuchar antes de morir" por Tom Moon.

Por su proactivo amor a la música diseñó y fue anfitirona de 2 programas musicales de televisión en México para canal 22 ( Acústico y Jazz desde el bajo centro) donde tuvo invitados nacionales e internacionales como Ute Lemper, Jerry Gonzalez, Diego el Cigala, Francisco Cespedes, Arturo Ofarril, entre otros.(tv show demo en myspace.com/magosherrera)

Desde 2007, con base en la ciudad de Nueva York, Magos ha grabado con Tim Ries para "The Rolling Stones Jazz Project II" y con la compositora contemporánea Paola Prestini para "VIA project."

En primavera del 2000, abrazada por la crítica especializada, Magos lanzó la producción discográfica Distancia/ Sunnyside records producida por el saxofonista de los Rolling Stones, Tim Ries, acompañada de un inigualable cuarteto, el guitarrista Lionel Loueke, el pianista Aaron Goldberg, el contrabajista Ricky Rodriguez y el baterista Alex kautz. Este proyecto se posicionó rapidamente por varias semanas consecutivas en el #1 de ventas de Jazz en itunes, y fue nominado al Grammy como mejor disco de jazz vocal, acompañado con presentaciones en EUA, España, Canadá y México.

Después de dicho éxito, como parte de las celebraciones de Bicentenario, Magos presenta su nueva producción "México Azul"/SONY Music Mexico, homenaje a un repertorio de una de las etapas mas proliferas de la música en nuestro país. Grabado en la ciudad de Nueva York, producido nuevamente por Tim Ries, Magos comparte una visión contemporánea de temas como Noche criolla y Azul de Agustin Lara, Luz de luna de Alvaro carrillo, Dos Gardenias de Isolda Carrillo entre otras, acompañada de una banda de primer nivel como el contrabajista John Patitucci, representando, una vez mas, el Jazz mexicano en el mundo.

Graduada en 1993 del Musicians Institute of Technology en Los Angeles, Cal; como voclaista profesional para continuar sus estudios Nueva York con Sheila Jordan in NYC y cursos de improvisación en iMannes conservatory.

De 1995-1999 entrenó con el maestro de opera Konstantin Jadan.

En 1999 en Boston tomo técnica vocal e improviscon y armonia de Jazz en New England conservatory.

De 2004 a 2006 estudio jazz piano y armonía con Alejandro Mercado.

Born in Mexico City, the deep and captivating performer, Magos Herrera is considered one of the most beautiful voices and the most active vocalist of the contemporary Latin American jazz scene.

The grammy nominee for best vocal jazz, Immensely popular throughout Mexico and Latin America, a dazzling accomplished singer-songwriter known for her beguiling rhythmic scatting, inflected with soulful Latin-Andalusian phrasings, Magos Herrera owns a unique signature that elegantly blends her classic jazz styling with Latin-American melodies. Fluent in Spanish, Portuguese and English, her repertoire is filled with the yearning romance, intimacy and enchantment of Mexican and Cuban sones and boleros, and sultry, languid Brazilian beats.

Her career started in Italy in 1988 where she decided to become professionally involved with music, and then graduated from the "Musicians Institute" in Los Angeles, Cal. For over 12 years Magos has performed in International Performing Arts Centers and Festivals such as Montreal International Jazz Festival, Kennedy Center in Washington, Lincoln Center, and Jazz Standard in New York, Millennium Park in Chicago, NYC, Teatro de la Ciudad de Mexico, Lunario del Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City and Sala Galileo Galilei in Madrid, Barcelona international Jazz Festival, among many others.

She has 6 CD recordings including " Cajuina", "Orquideas Susurrantes, " "Pais Maravilla", "Todo Puede Inspirar", "Soliluna" and" Dsitancia" and 2 international compilations for Brazil and Japan and was part of the acclaimed "Mexican Divas" cd series .

Based in New York since fall 2007, Magos Herrera promptly became part of the local scene since her successful concert at New York Winter Jazz Festival in 2008. Has recorded with saxophonist Tim Ries for "The Rolling Stones World Project II" and for Via Project (for contemporary composer Paola Prestini). In spring 2009, acclaimed by the critics, Magos released her sixth CD production " Distancia"/ Sunnyside, recorded with a top-flight new york band including lionel loueke and Aaron Goldberg, which became the #1 Itunes in Jazz category and was nominated for the Grammys as best vocal jazz album, and was included in the 1000 cds yu have to hera before you die.

Graduated from MIT as professional vocalists in 1993 to further her studies privately with Sheila Jordan in NYC and in Mannes conservatory.

From 1995-1999 trained with opera coach Konstantin Jadan .

In 1999 moved to Boston taking classes of vocal technique and jazz harmony at New England conservatory.

From 2004 to 2006 studied jazz composition with Alejandro Mercado (ex berklee student) in Mexico City.

TEACHING //

Since 2000 Magos teaches vocal technique, vocal improvisation, Jazz, brazilian and latin repertoir privately and in music schools such as Fermatta (Berklee associated school in Mexico City), DIM music school in Mexico City.

Has been also invited to teach master classes and clinics at Berklee College in Boston, Central College in Pella, Iowa and Miami Dade College.
