''LOST AND FOUND''

(U.S.A. 1993) @

These 10 songs were recorded in sessions that were held in 1969 and 1972, but were never released because of legal problems with Jimmy Scott's label at the time, Savoy. With Scott's reemergence in the early '90s (and the inspiring trilogy of ALL THE WAY, DREAM, and HEAVEN), gears began turning and these wonderful recordings finally saw the light of day.

imageThe title's is fitting for another reason--legal issues aside, for a time it was thought that the tapes had indeed been lost. Happily the producer, Joel Dorn, found them in his own home. Scott is accompanied by a quartet, and given additional orchestrations on some of the songs ("Stay With Me" being one sterling example). The musicians create a lush and gorgeous background for this man's remarkable voice to float over. These are among Jimmy Scott's finest recordings.
