History in my history

My father was born in 1942, in Teposcolula, a small town from Oaxaca State. When he was a teen, he moved to Mexico City and some years after, to Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz (round 40 years ago). And I was born on 6 October, 1987 in Coatzacoalcos. When I was a child, I remember that my family and I used to travel to Teposcolula on holidays. We didn't use to stay in a hotel (there weren't and there aren't), but in my grandfather's house, in the country, a farm. I remember a lot of things, but the most fascinating was the ancient church of the town and the blue-maize tortillas.

Teposcolula is a small and typical town from Oaxaca State. Dominicans built a church and a convent there, during the Colonial period. Although we went to Oaxaca State, we went to Oaxaca City and another towns once... why? I don't know. So that, when I studied History of Mexico, I got excited when I saw the photo of the church of Teposcolula in my book of History class. But my mother helped too, because when she was a young, she travelled (once) to Rome, Greece, Turkey, Lebanon, Holy Land and Egypt. She took a few photos but she often used to talk me about her trip to the St. Peter´s square, the Coliseum, the Parthenon, the Pyramids, or the holy places. She got some postcards and a book about the Renaissance works in Vatican City. They didn't know it, but they made possible that History interest me very much. Now, I want to be a historian, I'd like to travel abroad (to the UK, France, Italy, Greece, Germany), but I don't care if I'll be a historian with many awards, I just want to do the things I like: investigations, trips and readings about the past, no physical exertion, no f¥¢%ing difficult arithmetic, no uncomfortable social gatherings. God will say!
