Además de las influencias muy Latinas, Cubismo trabaja también con elementos del Jazz, del hip hop, del funk o del rock. Los miembros de la banda son de Croacia, Eslovenia, Cuba y Ecuador y todo este equipo ha grabado ya siete discos casi todos distribuidos en el internacional.
Por ejemplo el disco Motivo Cubano fue grabado con el legendario Buena Vista Social Club. La música es un punto importante en la carrera de la banda pero si tenéis ocasión de verles en concierto son alucinantes. El nombre de la banda Cubismo!
Cubismo - biography
Cubismo is a group that plays energetic dance music based on afro-Cuban rhythms but in its own unique and recognizable style. Besides salsa and Latin-jazz Cubismo has also been influenced by the elements of jazz, hip-hop, funk and rock music. The band members come from Croatia, Slovenia, Cuba and Ecuador . Cubismo is the leading group for such type of music in Croatia and this part of Europe .
The band has so far released 6 CDs, the majority of which has been internationally distributed. In its career Cubismo worked with numerous international music stars. Cubismo's CD â€žMotivo Cubano" was recorded in Cuba with the members of the legendary Buena Vista Social Club.Yolanda Duke, who was at that time a singer in Tito Puente Orchestra, appeared as a guest performer on the CD â€žViva la Habana".
Furthermore Cubismo has a tight and ongoing cooperation with Nelson Hernandez, who is one of the best arranger and producers of salsa music in the USA Cubismo is well known for its high quality music and the group members' performing artistry, and has, as such, regularly received numerous professional awards. However, the greatest aspects of Cubismo are their concerts and live performances, during which their enormous sparkling positive energy moves the audience to swing and dance.
The band was founded in 1995 and was named after the jazz trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie's composition â€žCu-bi cu-bop", which represented one of the first blending of afro-Cuban rhythms with jazz and other music styles.
